What am I doing wrong, GM? I've done a few basic jobs around the yard, but I haven't managed to even dent this bed. Is it because I haven't tossed heavy and sharp tools into it? I kinda like my tools too much to throw them or drop them.

It because you put in a spray on bed liner like 99.% of humans who buy new trucks

You’re not trying hard enough. Maybe you should

Listen to me, punk.
Real Americans use Lead paint on their houses, Iron sights on the guns, E mulsifier in their cheese, and god dammit STEEL IN THEIR TRUCK BEDS.

Must be a mall crawler. Photographic evidence you didn’t need a truck.

We haven’t closed the deal yet, but we’ve been looking at travel trailers around 8k lbs like this one:
It willwill essentially be a substitute for a hotel for our travels and whatnot.

Probably because your not doing a Chevy designed test that they spent time on to find a specific scenario that would cause it.

The sad part is that the salesman spent a not-insignificant amount of time talking about how strong the military grade aluminum is and that I shouldn’t have to worry about any damage. I really wanted him to just relax but he was pretty determined to go through his whole sales pitch.
Seems Chevrolets ads weren’t all that ineffective, unfortunately

Can tell but is the bed coated / Rhino lined ? GM’s test was just painted steel/aluminum straight from the factory. I remember the demo somewhere (an auto show or Goodwood) and i do agree its a dumb comparison. Almost every truck now has some sort of coating or bed insert so the test is null.

2018 Aluminum F150 bed, without liner, used by farm as work truck. Status:
Plenty of paint loss, some gouges, no punc tures, or dents.

Coa ted option from Ford, yeah.

I nteresting shots
I don’t anticipate any damage whatsoever with the little work it will see and the spray liner it has

We decided against the liner, since it won’t rust... Also, $$$. It’ s a work truck, not a toy. We have over 24k miles since late M arch when we bought it, almost 1/3rd towing, probably ~1/2 with some load. I love t he 2.7tt, 24 mpg empty, 12 with ~6000lb trailer in tow. And man is it ever quick for a truck.

We sprang for the 5.0 V8. Fuel economy is only around 20 mpg, but I enjoy the sound and throttle response. It gets up and moves from any speed with the 10 auto.
Still trying to convince my fiance to let me spring for an omega tune for E85 (still flex compatible). People have made 430whp on that tun e and nothing else on e85.

Yeah, I view the aluminum as a positive. Mainly for the lack of rusting out panels as a Michigan resident. But the weight savings is great too.
